Poem - Flowers

Beautiful in spring
Rushing in the wind
Blinded by the colours
Chin up ButterCup
Making a necklace for your sister
Making them shiny with your pup
Convert in April
Candid in May
They sparkle in the sun
Beauty has begun

My Holiday's

Going to the farm, Beach and going on the boat!

Last wednesday (during the holidays) I was in Kaitaia with my FAMILY.
I went  Up North with my two brothers. We went to one of my family member’s farm. While we were there, we played around the treehouse, on their land, had a tour around the farm, talked to the animals and captured a tiny lizard that wasn’t even half the size of my hand! We were there because it was my cousin’s 16th  birthday! Then we got ready to leave.

When we got to the beach my family members brought the boat into the water and got the biscuit ready (something that gets dragged by a boat) for the three people to jumped on. While 4 people and I got on to the boat. We were watching them have fun, going up and down and watching them fall off. My cousin’s and I wanted to get on the biscuit but it had deflated while the other three were on it. When we got off the boat and started swimming, my 6 year old cousin went on with his mum along with all the adults. After everyone was finished having fun, we all had something to eat then went home.

My highlight of that day was going on the boat and having a lot of fun with my family and my low light was that my dad couldn’t come because he had to work and that we weren’t able to go on the biscuit which was a big disappointment. But at least i had FUN!

I recommend this story for people 8 and over because they might even want to go on a biscuit one day!

Explanation Writing

W.A.L.T follow the structure of an explanation

Introduction: Food is something we eat every single day to give us energy, protein and strength.
Paragraph 1
If you do not watch what we are eating it can lead to obesity. Obesity is a person that is fat, or you could say overweight. Obesity can give you diseases like strokes, heart problems, diabetes, makes unable to do physical activities, nerve damage.
Paragraph 2
It can also change your mood. For example, my teacher was eating healthy all her life because her parents wanted that best for her and her siblings. So when she got her own house she thought of eating sugary and junk food for dinner and lunch for a month. She told us that she started notice a change in her she was gaining weight couldn’t do anything physical and her mood was changing. She was starting to get more depressed and skin even started to look different.
Paragraph 3

If you are eating junk food or something that is bad for you it can also affects your teeth. Germs are first on your teeth then you are eating junk food that equals to acid and when that acid hits your teeth it becomes decay which lead’s to holes in your teeth and it can turn to the colour black and green and that is why you also need to brush your teeth and watch what you are eating.

Brushing your teeth

Intro: What is brushing our teeth

To begin with brushing your teeth, grab your toothbrush and your toothpaste put them both in your mouth and brush the outsides, front of your teeth, the inside and your tongue. You should be brushing your teeth twice a day, once in the morning straight after breakfast and again after dinner.

The real reason why you have to brush your teeth is to prevent cavities you need to get rid of plaque and bacteria covering your teeth. To remove all of that the best way to treat it is to brush your teeth and to floss at least once a day. Sugar is bad for your teeth because it makes decay. And the results of decay makes holes in your teeth. In our teeth fall out which means that you have to go to that dentists.

Why you need to brush your teeth is because, when you are eating the germs go on your teeth, then when you eat sugary food it equals to acid, and when that acid goes onto your teeth is becomes decay.

Kiwi Can

On friday the 25~8~17 I was in room 9 and we went to kiwi can to learn about self control. When we got to the room 11 door Miss toiya came out and welcomed us into the classroom.

When we went to the room where kiwi can people teach, we sat in a circle and Mr Numia, (Kiwi Can teacher) gave a greeting in a different language and we had to try and guess where the greeting comes from. Then we had our energiser and what you do to play the game is you have to have a ball and you have to spread your legs forming a triangle shape. What you have to do is roll the ball under someone’s legs to get them out and then you can move in and fill the gap where the person was. Then we were talking about what that game was helping us with involving self control and the same with our activity. In our activity we had to dance to music and when the music stops you have to sit quickly and fold your legs, the last person that sits down and doesn’t fold their legs they are out!

At the end of our lesson i felt happy because it was fun learning about all the things about self control and of course playing the games was fun!

How to make scones

Scones are an English type of bread which are very popular and they have been eaten for hundreds of years. The British upper class take their scones very seriously and follow rules about how to eat them. This recipe makes 6 small or 4 large scones.

Ingredients
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
Instructions
1. Put the flour, salt and the butter into a large mixing bowl.
2. Rub the flour and the butter in between your fingers so it is the texture of breadcrumbs.
3. Make a well in the middle of your mixture. Pour the milk slowly into the well.
4. Mix the ingredients with a fork so the mixture becomes dough.
5. Knead the dough on a tray that has flour sprinkled on it.
6. Cut out equal pieces and put them on a baking tray.
5. Put the baking tray in the oven at 200 degrees celsius for 20 minutes.
6. Now you can eat them.

Grease lighting play

Grease by Auckland Girls Grammar School
Grease is about a group of teenagers who go to Rydell High School. There are two students, Danny and Sandy who like each other and they are in different social groups. Danny is in the T-birds and the girl group was called the Pink Ladies. Sandy was a nerd so they were in different categories.

My favourite part was the fight between Riz and Kinickey because it was funny. My favourite song was Grease Lightning.  It was really` fun to see the singing and dancing .

I would recommend the play to students in year 6, 7, 8 and at high school. These students would be old enough to understand. The play is set at high school.
If people wanted to see the play I would tell them that it has some adult parts in it and they hould be old enough to go. The play was funny and it was interesting.

How are humans polluting the environment?

We are learning to use words and phrases that are appropriate to the topic.

People are polluting the area by building factories that release’s smoke into the air, and even cows are pollute the air from when they fart, it pollutes the air. it is called carbon dioxide. Most of this air pollution we cause results from the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, natural gas, and gasoline to produce electricity and power our vehicles. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a good indicator of how much fossil fuel is burned and how much of other pollutants are emitted as a result.

  Water pollution:
Most of the water pollution we cause is from the rubbish that we through into the water, rivers, streams, oceans and the seweges. When all of this rubbish leads out to where all of the sea creatures are they will get really sick and if we keep on doing this for a long time eventually some of these sea creatures will be extinct.

  Earth pollution:
People are causing Earth pollution by cutting down trees, and by those people whom are doing that are making less oxygen for us other humans, that aren’t cutting down trees. If people keep doing this there will be less and less oxygen for us to breath in and the animals that live in trees will no longer have anywhere to live.
