My Future House

This is my dream house that could be built (for ME). The year sixes had to build a futuristic house for Glenn Innes.

My house is different for the houses that you see today, because my house is made metal, bricks and other, so it can protect you from tsunami's earthquakes and other's. If you compare this house to the houses today, this house would be very different from the way that it is designed. The architectures would have more ideas, and different ideas, about what a house should look like.

Every design in the house would be different from the ones we have in our's today. They wouldn't have analogue clocks anymore, just digital. Everything could have buttons, like when you go to the kitchen you could press a button and then it could change to the living room.

*Adams was born in Rotorua, New Zealand, to a Tongan mother (Lilika Ngauamo) and an English father (Sydney Adams) Nickname syd . Her father, who settled in New Zealand after service in the Royal Navy, had a total of 18 children with five women.

What are they famous for?

*Rio was Valerie's fourth Olympic Games winning the shot put silver medal. Valerie also took medals at Beijing in 2008 (all gold) and London in 2012 (all gold) and finishing seventh in her debut at Athens 2004.

Valerie has been the dominant women's shot putter in the world since 2006, only beaten twice in major world events. She also got 3 indoor world champion gold medals.

*Because she can encourage people to push themselves as far as she did and as in doing that she got rewarded a lot of gold medals and now she is a four-time World champion, three time World Indoor champion, two-time Olympic and three-time Commonwealth champion.

The New Zealand Wars

This week my reading group learnt about the New Zealand wars. Check out what I have learned:

Treaty of Waitangi

1.What is the treaty of waitangi?

A treaty is an agreement between two or more groups of people. The Treaty of Waitangi is a treaty that was signed on the 6th February 1840 in Waitangi, New Zealand. The treaty was between the British government and more than 500 Maori chiefs.

Why did New Zealand need a treaty?

The whalers and the traders who came to New Zealand could do anything they liked because there was no laws. They were breaking laws in their own countries. So the Maori wanted the treaty so that they could control the whalers and traders. They also wanted the protection of the British against the other European countries. The British wanted a treaty so they could control the land sales and to have sovereignty or authority over the country.

Was the treaty fair?

The treaty was not fair because the maori and europeans had different opinions about what was in the treaty. There was an English version and a te reo maori version. Most of the chiefs signed the maori version as that was their language. The treaties were different in each of the languages so they were agreeing to different things.

Is the treaty still important today?

The treaty is still important today because if it wasn’t here some of us might not even be alive. There could have been more wars between the maori and pakeha. People might not be speaking te reo maori because the treaty said that te reo is a treasure and should be used. The treaty protects the partnership between the maori and the pakeha and our bicultural nation.

Class presentation

Today in the Glenbrae School hall, every class in Glenbrae did a presentation on pollution and sustainability.
Our class made an artwork and we did a presentation on sustainable Burritos that we made on Friday. The burritos were sustainable because we used vegetables that didn't have chemicals on it, we used chicken instead of beef, because beef comes from cows and when cows fart it makes methane. Methane is a type of gas. We used less diary products we only used a little bit of cheese. The artwork that we did was a drawing of a girl at was holding onto an earth balloon. Then we wrote Do Not Let Go Of Our EARTH beside the girl. We drew a black and grey brick wall, the earth and the writing were green and blue.
